The CITB Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) test is a fundamental requirement for obtaining a construction industry scheme card. This card serves as a valuable credential, signifying a worker's competency in adhering to health, safety, and environmental regulations within the construction sector.

The Operatives test is designed to ensure that workers attain a fundamental level of health, safety, and environmental awareness before commencing work on-site. This test comprehensively covers the following five core knowledge areas:

To successfully pass the Operatives test, candidates must achieve a score of at least 90%. This requires answering a minimum of 45 out of the 50 questions correctly.
The Specialists HS&E tests encompass questions from the five core knowledge areas covered in the Operatives test, in addition to pertinent questions specific to the chosen specialist areas. Candidates have the option to take the Specialists test in the following topics:
